He didn't mention anything at the time but obviously things happen when a car is driven. Unfortunately, that friend has moved out of state or I would have him take a look at it.

I would drain your fluid at 15-20k and refill with some good quality gear oil and go from there. Amsoil claims 100k intervals on this fluid, I will check it at probably 30-40k and see what a UOA says then go from there. Hope this helps..
